The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Anger Over Sizing Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Updates
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
